An Excellent Book You Guys Should Read

Here is an excellent book to expand your cartoon knowledge. It's called "Tunes for 'Toons: Music and the Hollywood Cartoon". It covers the work of Carl Stalling and Scott Bradley, and also the use of jazz and classical music in cartoons.

My favorite Cartoons Part 3: Solid Serenade

I love this cartoon most of all because of its incredible score by Scott Bradley, the MGM composer. His scores are much more subtle than those of Carl Stalling.

This cartoon is also very atmospheric. I LOVE cartoons that are set at night.

Of course Tom's song is priceless.

My favorite Cartoons Part 2: Plane Daffy

This cartoon is awesome on so many levels. This is probably my favorite stage of Daffy's personality; when he was still crazy but not purely a "wacky" character. My favorite part of the whole thing is when he says, "Do you think I'm a Benedict Whozits, or something?" The poses are insane.
Also has tons of smoking and three suicides! It's by far my favorite WB wartime cartoon. Directed by Frank Tashlin.

I will post another drawing tomorrow.
